Winnie the Pooh
E-business platform exchange
The story of Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh is one of the largest toy stores on the Estonian market. There are a total of 12 stores across Estonia. In addition, Winnie the Pooh has a very long experience in e-commerce.
The partnership between Acty and Winnie the Pooh started in 2009, with the inception of the first e-shop, karupoegpuhh.ee, at which time it was called toys24.ee.
Project challenge
Winnie the Pooh had been using the Prestashop e-shop platform for some time, but its functionality and reliability did not allow the company to realize their ambitious goals.
Winnie the Pooh had a plan to offer a better customer experience to existing customers and expand sales cross-border, which was the main motivator that prompted them to consider changing the platform. We were looking for a platform that would allow for scaling and be reliable at the same time.
Transferring a functioning e-business to a new platform is almost always more difficult than creating a solution for a starting e-merchant. In the case of a functioning e-business, work processes have already developed, and customers are also accustomed to a certain user experience in the online environment.
Since the sales of the Winnie the Pooh e-channel had grown steadily year after year, it was also a significant challenge to ensure that sales volumes did not drop after the launch of the e-store.
Solution
We thoroughly analyzed customer behavior on the old website. We investigated from which channels the main conversions came and how much of the conversions were from organic traffic. In projects where a functioning e-business is transferred to a new platform, a common mistake is not correctly targeting the authoritative references important for SEO. This can have serious consequences for sales, especially when a large portion of conversions comes from organic search.
We studied the client’s profiles and based on that, created the design of the web environment. When creating the design, we also took into account the competitive market situation, where a distinctive design and, of course, a great user experience can create a competitive advantage.
We also implemented the Acty checkout solution in the Winnie the Pooh project.
Of course, this project could not proceed without the automation of work processes. We integrated the checkout system with the e-shop, which sometimes requires more thorough consideration in the case of omnichannel brands.
