Bottega Verde
Bottega Verde story
Bottega Verde is an Italian family company with over 40 years of history that produces natural cosmetics. Today, there are Bottega Verde stores in 80 countries around the world. In Estonia, Bottega Verde is represented by OÜ L’Dolcevita, which has been operating in the retail trade for almost 15 years, operating brand stores d in Tallinn’s Rocca al Mare and Ülemiste centers.
Project’s goal
In order to remain competitive in the market of cosmetic brands, it was an inevitable step for L´Dolcevita to create a digital sales channel in addition to regular stores. The goal was to create a user-friendly e-shop that embodies the values of the Bottega Verde brand, while remaining easy to use and clearly structured for the Estonian consumer.
Solution
As a result of preliminary work, we determined that Magento 2 was the best platform for building their e-store. Magento 2 is very capable in terms of its functions and structure: product management and categorization are well thought out, and more complex and personalized solutions can be built on top of it.
We made different systems communicate with each other
When building the Bottega Verde e-shop, we integrated different databases to ensure accurate, fast and automatic information management. Product information is regularly sourced from the supplier’s e-store database through XML (data transfer language), requiring minimal manual intervention from the Estonian representative to translate the product information and publish it in the e-store.
On the billing side, we established a connection with the Compucash cash register system used in physical stores, facilitating the seamless transfer of purchase information to accounting. This Compucash and Magento interface is known to be unique in Estonia.
The buyer must be comfortable using the e-shop
In the case of the Bottega Verde online store, the payment and ordering process was carefully designed to be user friendly and efficient.
For this purpose, we created a single-page payment form as a bespoke solution, where the buyer is asked for minimal information – typically, only name, phone number and email address are required to complete a purchase. In this way, the Bottega Verde order page differs from many other e-shops where the buyer has to fill out a long form.
Additionally, the top menu on the payment page has been removed, so all the focus is on the shopping cart and payment. Undoubtedly, a necessary step when creating an e-shop is compliance with GDPR requirements, i.e. how customer data is stored, to whom it is visible and how it is used later. These aspects had already been thought through during the creation process and configured accordingly.
