What is happening in the world has also changed consumer behavior. The need to find new solutions and offer the most convenient and best solutions for the customer journey led to a collaboration between Acty and Tallinn Airport.

Read below to learn about the opportunities for digitization that we identified and the solutions available for business customers of Tallinn Airport today.

Tallinn Airport

More than 3 million passengers pass through Tallinn Airport annually, which was chosen as the best airport in Europe in 2018.

According to passengers, Tallinn Airport is special because of its coziness and comfort, as well as the quality of its services. Therefore, it is especially important to constantly work to ensure that the use of services is convenient for customers in every aspect.

QR code is not yesterday

What is happening in the world has also changed consumer behavior. For example, due to COVID-19, QR codes have become particularly popular as they help ensure a contactless solution. They can be used, for example, in access systems instead of door cards or in various payment systems. This and several other factors prompted Tallinn Airport to look for and find opportunities for digitalization.

Tallinn Airport’s IT project manager Sven Tressum pointed out: “We saw an opportunity to take advantage of the possibilities of the QR code and make it very convenient for the customer to purchase the service.”

We started looking for a suitable partner in the market and met the Acty team. “Acty stood out for its initiative and collaboration with the topic, as well as the price. The whole work process went very well – it is a sincere pleasure to work with a team that collaborates and creates what the client expects. Modern and simple solutions are the keyword”, adds Tressum.

A solution that has increased customer comfort

Acty had the pleasure of being a partner of Tallinn Airport in the process of digitizing the purchasing process. Namely, Tallinn Airport was helped to move the purchasing processes of the Business Class Lounge and the security control express gate to the online environment.

Acty’s digital strategist Aldar Reinberk adds: “We created an online ticket purchase solution and an API interface that creates a QR code to pass through the security gates.”

Aldar continues: “Our task was to create an online ticket purchase solution for tallinna-lennujaam.ee and an API that is responsible for creating QR codes and exchanging information between security gates. The solution was introduced at the airport at the end of 2019.”

The solution still works today and has expanded significantly, with a growing user base comprising both the airport and its partners who provide airport services to their customers.

Sven Tressum adds in conclusion: “The service has been well received by the end user, as air passengers who fly often and are willing to use the premium service do so willingly, and the solution has been made as easy as possible for the air passenger.”
