Birth story of Horses24

Horses24 is a portal for buying and selling horses, equestrian equipment and related services, brought to life by equestrian enthusiasts. Due to their personal experience and requirements, they noticed the lack of a proper environment for buying and selling horses and horse equipment throughout Estonia and the surrounding area. From an enterprising point of view, it was decided to fill this gap. An exciting e-business project began, during which we helped the client formulate an idea into a ready-made solution.

Creating a tailored sales portal

Since it is a portal aimed at twelve countries where each country has its own domain, a bespoke solution had to be created due to there being no serious freeware alternatives, and the fact that their modification would have incurred higher costs than creating a completely new application.

We had to think about how to create a working environment that users would accept. We strategized on marketing the portal with minimal expenses using social media and SEO, whilst also streamlining the user journey within the portal to ensure simplicity and convenience when placing ads.

We investigated how users behaved on the page and what their actual user experience was like. Since the equestrian industry was new to us, we spent hours surfing various horse equipment sales environments and hobbyist forums to learn the terminology and understand the nuances of equestrian sport. An activity about which we learned a plethora of new and interesting insights.

The analysis of competing portals revealed that modern and innovative solutions were lacking in the field, offering us an opportunity to gain a competitive advantage by designing an excellent user experience for both desktop screens and mobile phones. Technically, this type of project presented a novel challenge in our portfolio. While we had prior experience in creating buying and selling environments, the complexity increased with the inclusion of diverse markets and content types. Fortunately, meticulous planning and the development of a robust application architecture proved invaluable in navigating these complexities and ensuring the project’s success.
